Our Story
A truly inspiring story of a diligent educator and a powerful yet humble achiever...
(1943- 2018)
Starting from modest beginnings,
in 1978
Mrs. Nila P. Christian
an efficient educator, led a team of young and devoted teachers, and began her journey of education in the small lanes of Gulbai-Tekra, Ahmedabad, with a preschool that rapidly grew from a few students to a high school with many girls and boys.
In 1998, Mrs. Nila Christian, established Trinity English Higher Secondary School at Paldi, Ahmedabad, with the sole aim of providing values, and a well- rounded education to students of diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. Since its start, the school’s progressive educational environment continued to evolve with the far-sightedness of our Director Ma’am.
Being totally self-supporting, Mrs. Christian aspired to do manageable quality work rather than quantity. Her vision was to build a school having a safe and happy atmosphere; ‘A home away from home’. She successfully created a wonderful workplace that provided so many job opportunities and livelihoods; as well as a perfect springboard for thousands of students to mould their future careers, and develop their characters and personalities.
Endowed with the qualities of head and heart, Mrs. Christian was a competent administrator and a compassionate educator. She was the very essence of love, humanity and duty; a practical visionary coupled with un linching determination and hard work.
Ma’am had an amazing presence, and each one of us from the very irst time we met her, felt and experienced her simplicity. Down-to-earth, soft-spoken, yet dynamic; she made the teachers, non-teaching staff, students and their parents an extended family. Taking the time to get to know their hobbies and families, she always had a tender word, a caring smile, and unconditional support for those who needed encouragement.
Gentle and polite to everyone she met in the school corridors, her genuinely kind nature had won the hearts of all; and be it kindergarten or higher secondary students they all loved, trusted and respected her a lot. Even former students often stopped by to share their happiness and achievements; especially on Teacher’s Day, to seek her blessings. In fact, Nila Madam was affectionately regarded and looked upon as a ‘Mother Figure’, and for our ‘Trinity Parivar’ she was and will always be one in every sense of the word.
Ma’am had a strong work ethic, special leadership abilities and a charismatic personality. She managed her responsibilities with integrity and tact, remained calm under pressure; never yielding to anger. Besides, working easily with the major administrative issues, she would also oversee the day-to-day functions of the school at every level; enveloping each situation with class and a humane perspective that offered teachers and students a shining example to emulate.
Teachers and students truly feel fortunate to have been mentored by Ma’am, who was a thorough disciplinarian, laying down ef icient guidelines in establishing school discipline, student behaviour and code of conduct for all. Very often, she motivated teachers, students and their parents through various workshops, seminars, and by sharing her knowledge and experiences. Committed to the welfare of students, and how we as dedicated professionals could work together to make a difference in their lives; Ma’am would guide us to transform our mistakes into valuable lessons. And to monitor students’ learning progress, she checked their books and test results at random; treating them with a personal touch, she often presented students signed certi icates of appreciation. Her thoughtful ways and useful messages in the school magazine and handbook, captivated our hearts.
Having a sharp eye for detail, at every event organised by the school; be it large- scale events like: Annual Day, Parents’ Day, Sports Meet, Nursery Convocation, National Festivals, Science Exhibition, Workshops, Celebrations, Picnics & Tours, or other School Activities, Ma’am was the guiding force behind the scenes; involving everyone, she never missed a chance to appreciate the teachers, staff and students for their efforts. Her understanding, enthusiasm and expertise have left life-af irming legacies in all of our lives, which she touched in so many positive ways.
Being a Montessori Specialist Teacher and the best mentor we have ever known, Ma’am led the kindergarten wing of the school; ensuring the availability of authentic teaching aids, materials and smart boards; meeting teachers to discuss the curriculum, teaching-learning methods and assessment; she also enabled many of us to upgrade our skills and certi ications. Our loving Madam’s witty interactions with little Trinitians, during her regular visits to kindergarten classrooms, her guidance and her contributions to the preschool team are invaluable. She had in her a philanthropic streak, and we have witnessed her sel less concern for the less privileged; her priceless service to the society through ‘Aahwan’ (A Clarion Call To Awareness), the socio-cultural wing of the school; a mission started by Ma’am to foster empathy and social awareness in students. Her actions spoke clearly, and one of her many noteworthy welfare works was her support to children, living in the nearby slums, for whom she arranged medical check-up camps, special classes to educate them on different topics; and for their parents, she organised workshops offering alternatives to encourage a concerted outlook on various key concerns of the community. This mission has helped us all to be better human beings by actively participating in such kind deeds; to encourage and enlighten people who are in utter need of light and hope. Our Ma’am, an inspirational role model for all of us, served God by her ‘Good Works’ and through ‘Education’, in luencing all who are and all who have been in the school.
Under her leadership, each one was offered a golden opportunity to grow and lourish professionally and socially; working together for the longest time with the same team she started with, the school teachers, sports and art faculty, administration and accounts staff, school peon and housekeeping staff, school photographer, carpenter, painter and all the rest. Being both gentle and strong at the same time, our Ma’am was the one who brought joy and fulfilment to the lives of everyone in the school. We all at ‘Trinity’, and there are so many others, near and far, who take great pride in having known our most affectionate Nila Madam and having been blessed to be a part of her ‘Immortal Life’.
The teachers, staff, students and parents bear testimony to our Director Ma’am, Mrs. Nila P. Christian’s lifetime of sincere service and meaningful achievements and owe her an enormous debt of gratitude. Celebrating over 40 years of ‘Education ,
